IP Intelligence Data: Customer-Requested Initiative
Launched an alpha version of a feature customers had been requesting for a while, one every competitor already offered, to test real demand and data readiness before committing to a full build.
- ↑closed deals, with the alpha data available as proof of momentum
- ↑alpha tester enrollment, after the landing page and recruitment iteration
- ↑organic discovery: widget to landing page to scheduler, no outreach needed
About 6 months to private beta
- NovemberAlpha launch: shipped fast, engineering blocked on missing provisioning signal
- Nov–DecRecruit: struggled to find willing testers, landed at 2
- Dec–FebStalled: still 2 testers, blocking the feedback engineering needed
- MarchLanding page: a dedicated page plus site-wide call-outs
- April–JuneRamp: tester recruitment and feedback capture accelerate

Three risks, and what happened
| Risk | How it was handled | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Value. Customers had been asking for this feature for a while, and every competitor already had it. | Analyzed customer calls directly to confirm the need was real, not assumed, and ran competitor landscape analysis. | Sales closed deals faster, using the alpha as tangible proof the product was coming. |
| Feasibility. The data was fully validated, but was the format ready for real customers? | Customer testing became a prerequisite for engineering to move forward, not just a validation step. | Next: the final data payload, based on remaining alpha tester feedback. |
| Business viability. Shipping something imperfect fast, versus waiting to perfect it and risking more competitive ground. | Shipped fast as an alpha. When recruitment stalled at 2 testers, built a dedicated landing page plus site-wide call-outs. | Tester recruitment and feedback capture accelerated from April to June. |
My role. Owned the landing page concept. Led alpha recruitment strategy, iterating based on direct customer complaints and feedback. Analyzed call data with customers to validate whether the need was real.
With engineering. Partnered with web engineering to ship the landing page. Engineering built the first working prototype of the data product.
